My Story
I'm Alex Shelley, a San Antonio native that calls DFW home. I have some serious addictions to chips & salsa, coffee, and talking to strangers in the grocery store.
I've always been creative; my mother being an artist, there was always some medium in my hand. Unfortunately, I was never quite good at painting.
My love of photography started over fifteen years ago while working for a small-town Texas newspaper. I wrote about real people and their lives but the photographs really told the truth behind their unique stories.
I've always been creative; my mother being an artist, there was always some medium in my hand. Unfortunately, I was never quite good at painting.
After graduating with a degree in Journalism & Public Relations, I worked in higher education using my photography skills to tell the stories of students for marketing. Later I moved into a role where I worked side-by-side with students helping them achieve their dreams. I loved it and was passionate about my work, but I always had my own dream in the back of my heart.
Tapping into my journalism background, found I really love and gravitated to that photojournalism/documentary-style photography from my newspaper days. I've always been inspired by photographers like Dorthea Lange who captured major moments in history that have never been forgotten.
Over the last few years, I've really enjoyed working with a diverse group of clients and their unique personalities and look forward to every session I have with them. I'm proud to say that many of them have become friends. I hope you become one, too!
